HB635 Summary

• Amends Section 41-9-592, Code of Alabama 1975, to increase membership of the Alabama Justice Information Commission's voting section from 13 to 15 members.

• Adds two new voting members: a judge of probate appointed by the President of the Alabama Probate Judges Association, and a municipal judge appointed by the President of the Alabama Municipal Judges Association.

• Maintains the existing advisory section with 7 members including legislative leadership, county and municipal officials, and a governor-appointed citizen representative.

• Allows all voting members (except the citizen appointee) to designate a qualified designee to ensure continuity of representation and attendance at commission meetings.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon becoming law without gubernatorial action.
