AL HB70

Adds Section 17-17-34.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975 to prohibit individuals, businesses, organizations, or other entities from promising or offering to make payments after an election based on proof that voters participated in that election.

Makes it unlawful to promise or offer per-voter basis payments to individuals, businesses, associations, organizations, religious institutions, or other entities contingent upon receiving proof of voter participation.

Establishes violation of this prohibition as a Class C misdemeanor.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.

Noted as exempt from further requirements under Amendment 621 of the Alabama Constitution because the bill defines a new crime.
