• Amends Section 15-22-26.2 of the Alabama Code to modify mandatory supervised release requirements for inmates sentenced to Department of Corrections confinement.

• Reduces supervised release timeline for defendants sentenced to 10 years or more from 12-24 months prior to release date to 10-12 months prior to release date.

• Exempts defendants convicted of sex offenses involving a child from the mandatory supervised release provisions.

• Requires the Board of Pardons and Paroles to determine supervision level based on validated risk and needs assessment.

• Becomes effective January 31, 2022, contingent upon certification by the Director of Finance that sufficient funds have been appropriated to the Board of Pardons and Paroles.
