• Increases annual fee for firefighter distinctive license plates from $0.25 to $1.00, effective January 1, 2022.

• Distributes collected fees equally: $0.50 per plate to Alabama Joint Fire Council for expanding and maintaining the Alabama Firefighter Memorial in Tuscaloosa, and $0.50 to Alabama Fire College Joint Fire Council for Firefighter Peer Support Program training expenses.

• Applies the $1.00 annual fee to both professional firefighter and retired professional firefighter distinctive license plates.

• Requires fees to be audited by Alabama Department of Public Examiners or an independent certified public accountant once every three calendar years starting January 1, 2022.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
