House Joint Resolution mourning the death of Reverend Dr. James "Jim" R. Barnette, who died on February 22, 2021, at age 59.

Reverend Dr. Barnette graduated from Samford University in 1983 and earned a Master's Degree in Divinity and Doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Served as Senior Pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where he delivered over 700 sermons in nearly 1,200 services; also served as Minister of Samford University and held positions as Associate Professor of Religion and Director of the Pre-Ministerial Scholars Program.

Survived by his wife Deanna Barnette, children Hannah Asters and Nicholas Barnette, additional relatives, and a host of friends.

Legislature records his death with deep sadness and offers the resolution in tribute to his life with heartfelt sympathy extended to his family.
