Commends the Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) Board of Directors for their service and leadership.

CVEC was established in 1939 and serves 17,500 consumers in Calhoun, Clay, Etowah, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega Counties, having attracted and developed more than 16 industries bringing 4,000 jobs to the area.

Members voted overwhelmingly on September 12, 2020, to authorize CVEC to enter the broadband Internet service business through a new subsidiary, Coosa Valley Technologies.

CVEC Board plans to construct a Fiber-To-The-Premise network capable of providing speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, along with voice-over-Internet-protocol telephone and potentially television services.

Board leadership includes Manager Leland Fuller, President Mary Land, Vice President John M. Davis, Secretary Buddy Watson, and members Marilyn Davis, Robert Dixon, Sammy Gallman, and Michael Hubbard.
