Proclaims August 6, 2021, as Robert Hugh "Shotgun" Giddens Day to honor the legacy of the late gospel singer.

Robert Hugh "Shotgun" Giddens was born on August 6, 1938, in Talladega County, Alabama, and had a successful career singing in numerous gospel quartets and trios for many decades.

Giddens served as Circuit Clerk of Clay County for 18 years, worked as a barber, and was honored by the Boy Scouts of America.

Giddens was married to Linda Upchurch Giddens for 53 years and is survived by two daughters, three grandsons, three granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and extended family.

The resolution was adopted by the House on May 6, 2021, and adopted by the Senate on May 17, 2021.
