Recognizes and commends Demetri's Barbeque Restaurant in Homewood, Alabama on 60 years of operation and service in the Homewood and Birmingham Metropolitan Area.

Founder Tyke Nakos immigrated from Greece in 1950 and opened the El Rancho Restaurant in Homewood in 1961 before launching Demetri's Barbeque Restaurant following more than a decade of hard work.

Demetri's Barbeque evolved into a landmark in downtown Homewood, serving as a meeting place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with barbecue, sandwiches, salads, and fresh vegetables.

Restaurant is recognized as the oldest continuously family-operated restaurant in Homewood and continues to provide warm welcome from the Nakos family.

House adopted the resolution on February 23, 2021 and Senate adopted it on February 24, 2021.
