• Recognizes the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) on its 40th anniversary, established by enabling legislation signed by Governor Fob James in 1981.

• AMEA members include Alexander City, Dothan, Fairhope, Foley, LaFayette, Lanett, Luverne, Opelika, Piedmont, Sylacauga, and Tuskegee, which benefit from joint action to achieve economies of scale in wholesale electricity activities.

• AMEA has innovated in electric generation options including the Alabama Direct Fuel Cell Demonstration Project, the AMEA-Sylacauga Plant, solar research projects, utility-scale solar, and electric vehicle infrastructure.

• Over 40 years, AMEA has provided low-cost power supply and value-added services including distribution services support, regulatory compliance and territorial support, and economic development programs.
