Unique Thompson was selected by the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association in April 2021 as the 19th overall pick and seventh pick in the second round.

Thompson was the first player from Auburn University to be selected in the WNBA Draft and the first Auburn player drafted since DeWanna Bonner and Whitney Boddie in 2009.

At Auburn University, Thompson scored 17.8 points per game and averaged 12.8 rebounds per game in her final season, leading the Southeastern Conference in rebounding and recording a school record of 58 double-doubles over four years.

Thompson finished her Auburn career with 1,540 points and 1,156 rebounds, making her Auburn's all-time rebounder, and was a two-time Class 5A First-Team All-State selection and two-time First-Team AL.com Coastal Alabama selection.
