Honors Captain Sean Edwards for his professional achievements and service to law enforcement and the military.

Edwards has over 27 years of law enforcement experience with the Birmingham Police Department beginning in 1993, serving in roles including Patrol Officer, Detective, Academy Instructor, Precinct Commander, and Training Director.

Served over 22 years in the United States Army Reserve, retiring in 2010 with the rank of Major, including deployments during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait.

Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Serves as founder and Senior Pastor of Empowerment Word Church in Alabaster and is married to Gwendolyn with three children.
