Mourns the death of Reverend E. Baxter Morris, Senior Pastor of Montgomery's First Baptist Church on North Ripley Street, who died on May 2, 2021.

Recognizes Reverend Morris as one of Montgomery's first African-American Civil Rights Era leaders who sheltered Freedom Riders and preached nonviolence for nearly 50 years at First Baptist Church, where Montgomery Bus Boycott mass meetings were held.

Honors his five decades of service in religious leadership organizations including moderator of the Montgomery-Antioch Association of Baptist Churches and lecturer roles with the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and Alabama Baptist conventions.

Acknowledges his more than two decades of service as chaplain of the Montgomery Police Department, providing spiritual support and serving as a bridge between police and Montgomery's clergy and community leaders.

Offers the resolution as tribute to his prolific life's work and extends heartfelt sympathy to his family.
