SB10 Summary

• Prohibits medical professionals from performing gender-affirming procedures or prescribing puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or sterilizing surgeries on minors when intended to alter gender appearance or affirm gender identity inconsistent with biological sex.

• Excludes from the prohibition procedures treating medically verifiable disorders of sex development, including individuals with ambiguous external sex characteristics or abnormal sex chromosomes or hormone function.

• Prohibits school nurses, counselors, teachers, and administrators from encouraging minors to withhold information about gender identity from parents or guardians, or from withholding such information from parents themselves.

• Establishes violation of these provisions as a Class C felony.

• Becomes effective 30 days following passage and approval by the Governor.
