SB178 Summary

• Parolees receive a reduction in confinement sentences imposed by the Board of Pardons and Paroles for time spent in holding before the confinement period is imposed.

• The reduction for time spent in holding applies retroactively to any person currently serving a confinement period for violating parole conditions.

• The maximum 45-day confinement term for parole violations (excluding violent and sex offenses) shall not be reduced by credit for incarceration time already served, but the holding time reduction applies separately.

• Amends Section 15-22-32, Code of Alabama 1975, to implement these changes.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
