SB243 Summary

• Amends Section 16-60-111 of the Alabama Code to clarify that appointed members of the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Community College System may serve no more than two consecutive full terms of office.

• Specifies that partial terms do not count toward the two-term consecutive service limit, allowing members appointed to fill unexpired terms to serve two additional full terms.

• Maintains existing requirements that board members be free from financial conflicts of interest, be qualified Alabama electors, and reflect the state's racial, gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
