SB264 Summary

• Amends Section 9-11-235 of the Alabama Code to allow nighttime hunting of feral swine and coyotes on private land during designated special hunting seasons with a valid nighttime feral swine and coyote hunting license.

• Establishes a new nighttime feral swine and coyote hunting license with annual resident fee of $14 plus $1 issuance fee, nonresident fee of $50 plus $1 issuance fee, and $1 issuance fee only for 100 Percent Disabled Residents or Disabled Military Veterans.

• Maintains existing penalties for unlawful nighttime hunting: Class B misdemeanor with fine of $2,000 to $3,000, possible jail time up to six months, and three-year revocation of all hunting license privileges.

• Exempts landowners and their agents with valid permits to take protected wildlife causing crop damage, property damage, or human safety concerns from the license requirement.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval.
