SB277 Summary

• Amends Section 34-21A-10 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to exempt certain entities from Alabama Onsite Wastewater Board licensure and regulation.

• Exempts individuals or entities that distribute septic tanks or conventional or engineered onsite sewage systems from board licensing and regulation.

• Exempts owners of multiple wastewater systems or systems under common ownership where one or more systems have a design flow of 15,000 gallons per day (GPD) or greater.

• Exempts general contractors licensed by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors with a municipal and utility endorsement while installing or maintaining wastewater systems with design flow of 15,000 GPD or greater.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval; passed Senate with 21 yeas and 0 nays on April 13, 2021.
