SB283 Summary

• Amends Section 17-7-21 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to add a new requirement for electronic vote counting systems used in Alabama elections.

• Prohibits the use of electronic vote counting systems that are capable of connecting to the Internet, cell phone networks, or that possess modem technology.

• Adds this prohibition as a 13th requirement that all electronic vote counting systems must meet in order to be used for elections in counties, municipalities, or other political subdivisions.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
