• Adds Section 22-51-15 to the Code of Alabama 1975 to provide liability protections for regional mental health entities and their directors and employees.

• Directors and employees of regional mental health entities engaged in services or programs certified and contracted by the Alabama Department of Mental Health receive immunity equivalent to state employees under Section 36-1-12.

• Regional mental health entities are not liable for conduct protected under the immunity provisions.

• Immunity protections do not extend to subcontractors or independent contractors of these entities.

• Effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, applying only to claims accruing after the effective date.
