SB33 Summary

• Amends Section 17-4-33 of the Alabama Code to allow registered voters who are federal or state prosecutors, federal/state/probate/municipal judges, or law enforcement officers to submit a signed affidavit requesting omission of all voter registration information except their name from publicly available voter lists.

• Extends the same privacy protection to spouses of individuals in the above professions, allowing them to request that only their name appear on generally available voter registration lists.

• Maintains existing protections for domestic violence victims, who may already request omission of residential and mailing addresses from public voter lists upon submission of a signed affidavit.

• Requires the Secretary of State to develop and provide standardized affidavits to each county for use in requesting information omission.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
