SB356 - District Attorney Compensation

• Amends Section 12-17-182, Code of Alabama 1975, to establish new salary provisions for district attorneys appointed or elected after October 1, 2021.

• Sets initial salary for newly appointed or elected district attorneys at $140,000.

• Provides salary increases of 7.5 percent after completion of first term, an additional 7.5 percent after second term, and an additional 7.5 percent after third term as district attorney.

• Allows salary increases based on prior experience, crediting each six full years of service as assistant attorney general or assistant district attorney in any state circuit toward the base salary.

• Grandfathers district attorneys in service on October 1, 2021, maintaining their existing compensation without reduction.
