SB65 Summary

• Amends Section 11-22-16 of the Alabama Code to create an alternative dissolution procedure for public park and recreation boards organized under Chapter 22 that were originally acquired under Chapter 18.

• Allows dissolution when a majority of the municipality's governing body votes and the county commission adopts a resolution, without requiring all bonds and obligations to be fully paid.

• Requires the park board to transfer all funds, assets, real property, and liabilities to the municipality within 90 days of approval by both the county and municipality.

• Transfers all employees of the dissolving corporation to become employees of the municipality upon transfer of assets.

• Allows a separate contract to be executed between the corporation and municipality to manage the orderly transfer of assets, liabilities, and employees prior to dissolution.
