SB8 Summary

• Prohibits condominium associations, homeowner's associations, and unit owners' associations from adopting or enforcing policies that restrict or prevent members from displaying the Alabama state flag on residential property where they have separate ownership interest or exclusive possession rights.

• Allows reasonable restrictions on the time, place, or manner of displaying the Alabama state flag if necessary to protect a substantial interest of the association.

• Defines condominium association, homeowner's association, and unit owners' association according to existing Alabama Code provisions.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor, or upon the bill otherwise becoming law.
