SB89 Summary

• Exempts TWG 2021 Birmingham Foundation, an Alabama nonprofit corporation, from paying or collecting all state, county, and municipal sales, use, and license taxes related to the World Games 2022 event in Alabama.

• Exempts all property owned by TWG 2021 Birmingham Foundation and used for the World Games 2022 event from state, county, and local ad valorem taxes.

• Tax exemptions cover purchases or use of property by the foundation and gross proceeds from the sale or use of property or admissions to the World Games 2022 event.

• Exemptions expire on December 31 of the year following the year the World Games 2022 event concludes.

• Act became effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
