AL SJR10

Creates the Alabama USA Semiquincentennial Commission to plan, promote, and implement public celebrations and commemorations of the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, and the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

Commission shall coordinate with the United States Semiquincentennial Commission and other national, state, and local organizations to promote awareness of the Declaration of Independence, American history, constitutional self-government, veterans' service, and civic engagement.

Establishes an 11-member voting commission including the Governor (as Honorary Chair), two members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, four members appointed by legislative leadership, two members from the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, and two at-large members appointed by the Governor.

Designates the American Village campus of the Citizenship Trust as an Alabama "celebration capitol" and national welcome and education center for the U.S. Semiquincentennial.

Commission must submit annual written reports with recommendations to the Governor and Legislature beginning in 2021 through its final report in 2027, and shall be dissolved upon adjournment of the Regular Session in 2027.
