• Creates the Chronic Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force to study health implications, costs, and treatment options for obesity and type 2 diabetes in Alabama.

• Task force composed of 6 legislative members (2 House appointed by Speaker, 1 by House Minority Leader, 2 Senate appointed by President Pro Tempore, 1 by Senate Minority Leader), one certified endocrinologist, one obesity medicine expert, CEO of State Employees' Insurance Board, and State Health Officer.

• Task force must hold first meeting by December 30, 2021, with two co-chairs (one from House, one from Senate) and shall study cost savings of prevention and promotion of data-driven decision making.

• Legislative members receive regular compensation, per diem, and travel expenses per Amendment 871 of the Alabama Constitution.

• Task force must report findings and recommendations to legislative leadership by the fifteenth legislative day of the 2022 Regular Session, at which time it dissolves.
