• Creates the Purple Star Schools Program to recognize Alabama public K-12 and charter schools committed to supporting military students and their families during transitions.

• Establishes a 12-member Purple Star Schools Committee to develop qualifications and criteria for designating schools as Purple Star Schools, with initial meeting required by September 1, 2021.

• Committee membership includes the Lieutenant Governor, State Superintendent of Education, chairs of relevant Senate and House committees, commissioners of veterans affairs and military compact commission, Adjutant General, Alabama Military Stability Foundation representatives, and two public education representatives.

• Requires appointing authorities to coordinate appointments ensuring diversity of gender, race, and geographical representation reflecting the state's makeup.

• Legislative committee members receive compensation, per diem, and travel expenses under Amendment 871 of the Alabama Constitution; other members reimbursed for necessary meeting expenses per their respective office policies.
