Mourns the death of Dr. James S. "Doc" Ferguson, former Band Director of the University of Alabama's Million Dollar Band, who died on March 17, 2021, at age 85 in Woodstock, Georgia.

Dr. Ferguson graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1956 and served as Band Director at high schools before becoming Professor and Director of Bands at the University of Mississippi in 1966.

He moved to the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1971 where he served as Band Director until 1983, then pursued a career in computer software business before retiring in 2011.

He is survived by his wife Micki Ferguson, sons James Smith Ferguson Jr. and Robert Alexander Ferguson, and stepchildren Travis Childress and Sunshyne Pothier.

The Alabama Legislature records his death with sadness and offers this resolution in tribute to his life with sympathy extended to his family.
