HB7 Summary

• Prohibits employers in Alabama from requiring employees to receive COVID-19 vaccination if the employee objects based on religious belief or medical reasons, including prior COVID-19 recovery.

• Defines COVID-19 as the virus subject to the Governor's March 13, 2020 public health emergency declaration or any mutation thereof resulting in an epidemic with declared public health emergency.

• Applies to any person in Alabama employing individuals residing in the state to perform services of any nature.

• Requires protections to be liberally construed in favor of employees.

• Mandates the Department of Labor, in cooperation with the Office of the Attorney General, to publish guidance for employers within 60 days of the act becoming effective.
