AL SB2

Repeals and reenacts Section 16-3-1.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to reapportion and redistrict the State Board of Education districts based on the 2020 federal census.

Divides Alabama into eight State Board of Education districts with boundaries established by the McClendon SBOE Plan 1 map prepared by the Permanent Legislative Committee on Reapportionment.

Requires the Legislature to post the adopted map and any alternative maps introduced during the legislative session on its public website for public viewing.

Directs the Clerk of the House or Secretary of the Senate to transmit the map and boundary descriptions to the Secretary of State for certification and posting on the state's public website.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
