AL HB101

Amends Section 17-3-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to modify appointment procedures for county boards of registrars.

Requires the state board of appointment (Governor, Auditor, and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries) to ensure board membership reflects the gender, race, and geographical makeup of the respective county.

Maintains existing qualifications for registrars including being qualified electors, county residents, possessing high school diploma or equivalent, and having minimum computer and map reading skills.

Exempts counties with populations of 600,000 or more inhabitants and preserves any existing local or general laws of local application regarding registrar appointments.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
