HB11 Summary

• Prohibits public K-12 schools and public higher education institutions and their employees from directing or compelling students to affirm that any sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior to any other.

• Prohibits schools and employees from directing or compelling students to affirm that any individual should be adversely treated based on sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, or that individuals are inherently responsible for actions committed by other members of the same group.

• Prohibits schools and employees from distinguishing or classifying students based on race or color.

• Prohibits employees from using or introducing courses of instruction or units of study that direct or compel students to personally affirm, adopt, or adhere to the prohibited tenets.

• Requires schools and higher education institutions to terminate employment of any employee who violates these provisions; becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval.
