HB110 Summary

• Proposes a constitutional amendment to remove Geneva County from Constitutional Amendment No. 429 and Constitutional Amendment No. 759 of the Alabama Constitution, which grant economic development powers to named counties and their municipalities.

• Retains Constitutional Amendment No. 772 (Section 94.01 of the Recompiled Constitution) as the statewide economic development authority that will continue to apply to Geneva County after removal from Amendments 429 and 759.

• Includes a savings clause protecting any economic development actions taken by Geneva County under Amendments 429 and 759 prior to ratification of this amendment.

• Election on the proposed amendment shall be held at the general election in 2022 in accordance with Alabama election laws.

• Ballot description shall explain the amendment relates to deleting Geneva County from the named counties in Amendments 429 and 759 while preserving prior county actions and applying statewide amendment provisions instead.
