HB124 Summary

• Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, students participating in 4-H or FFA activities during school hours shall be credited as present in class and not counted absent.

• Public K-12 schools must provide students the opportunity to make up any schoolwork missed due to 4-H or FFA participation.

• Schools are prohibited from negatively impacting a student's grades for lack of attendance or participation due to involvement in 4-H or FFA activities.

• 4-H or FFA agents must provide documentation of student participation upon request from school faculty members.

• The exception: students who are suspended, expelled, or assigned to alternative schools cannot receive attendance credit for 4-H or FFA activities during the period their suspension or expulsion would otherwise preclude participation.
