HB167 Summary

• Adds a valid inmate identification card or other form of identification issued by an incarceration facility to the list of acceptable photo identification for absentee voting in Alabama.

• Requires voters requesting an absentee ballot to submit a copy of one of the approved forms of identification with their absentee ballot application.

• Allows absentee ballots to be issued as provisional ballots if applications are received within 8 days before an election without the required identification, provided the applicant is otherwise qualified to vote.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
