Amends Section 30-2-55 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to expand alimony termination grounds to include cohabitation with a member of the same or opposite sex, not just remarriage.

Defines "cohabitating" as two adults habitually dwelling together in an intimate relationship, evidenced by sexual relations, mutual assumption of rights and duties typical of married individuals, and a sense of permanency.

Requires courts to modify divorce decrees providing alimony upon petition and proof that the recipient has remarried or is cohabiting with another adult.

Applies retroactively to persons granted divorce decrees prior to April 28, 1978, or thereafter, but does not require reimbursement of alimony already received.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
