HB33 Summary

• Amends Alabama Code Section 12-25-35 to clarify that the district attorney or their employee may complete voluntary sentencing standards worksheets in felony cases.

• Removes the requirement that a probation officer, district attorney, or court-appointed person complete the worksheets, replacing it with an employee of the Board of Pardons and Paroles.

• Allows the district attorney or their employee to present completed sentencing standards worksheets to the sentencing judge for consideration.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
