HB34 Summary

• Amends Section 22-34-11 of the Alabama Code to extend loan repayment periods for wastewater treatment facility construction loans from the Alabama Water Pollution Control Authority.

• Allows repayment periods to be extended beyond the standard 20 years when required or permitted under the Federal Clean Water Act, provided the extended period does not exceed the project's expected design life.

• Loan repayment must still begin no later than one year after construction completion and be repaid in full within the authorized timeframe.

• Loan recipients must maintain project accounts in accordance with generally accepted government accounting standards.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or upon otherwise becoming law.
