Judge of probate in each county may appoint up to one high school student per precinct to serve as a precinct election official on election day.

Students must be high school students at time of election, residents of the county or municipality, and enrolled in public school, accredited private school, or home instruction program.

Student election officials cannot determine voter qualifications in challenged voter cases or operate and maintain voting equipment.

Students working four or more hours during school hours on election day or training days are entitled to excused absences from school.

Student officials must complete all required training and remain under supervision of poll managers while performing duties.
