HB405 - Jefferson County Sports Wagering Act

• Creates the Jefferson County Sports Wagering Commission to regulate and supervise sports wagering operations in the county, composed of seven members appointed by county and state legislative bodies.

• Authorizes the commission to issue up to seven sports wagering licenses to operators at $100,000 per application and $100,000 per renewal, with additional licensing fees for suppliers ($1,000), management services providers ($1,000), and occupational employees ($100).

• Imposes a 10 percent tax on adjusted gross sports wagering receipts, collected weekly and deposited into the Jefferson County Sports Wagering Fund for distribution to the county and municipalities on a pro rata basis.

• Permits sports wagering on professional, collegiate, motor race events, and other commission-approved events through licensed gaming facilities and mobile/digital platforms for patrons aged 21 and older.

• Authorizes the commission to enter into sports wagering agreements with other state and local governments to allow residents in signatory jurisdictions to participate in cross-border wagering, subject to specified regulatory requirements and revenue sharing provisions.
