Marion County Revenue Commissioner may set and collect an additional mail fee not to exceed $5 per transaction for motor vehicle registration renewals conducted by mail or through the Internet.

The mail fee is intended to offset renewal costs, including mailing expenses for motor vehicle license decals or license plates.

All collected fees must be deposited in the Revenue Commissioner Fund and used for operating the revenue commissioner's office.

The act is supplemental to any other existing authority or fees of the revenue commissioner and does not eliminate the option for in-person registration renewals.

The act became effective immediately upon passage by the House on March 31, 2022 and the Senate on April 6, 2022.
