HB523 Summary

• Amends Code of Alabama sections relating to the Personnel Board of Marshall County, which consists of five members appointed by the county commission (one), Marshall County Legislative Delegation (three), and elected by county employees (one).

• Changes the language regarding elected board members' eligibility from "will be" to "are" subject to the act, and clarifies that elected members can serve no more than two full terms while appointed members remain eligible for reappointment.

• Removes the requirement that all board appointments be made within 30 days and eliminates the requirement that the board convene within 15 days after initial appointment to elect a chair.

• Increases the monthly expense allowance for each board member from $100 to $200 per month, paid by the Marshall County Commission.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
