HB530 Summary

• Establishes the Joint Legislative Committee on the Nullification of Federal Laws composed of the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, six Senate members, the Speaker of the House, and six House members, with no more than four members from the same political party in each chamber.

• Requires the committee to review all federal laws, regulations, and executive orders enacted after the bill's effective date to determine whether they exceed the powers delegated to the federal government under the U.S. Constitution.

• Authorizes the committee to review existing federal laws, regulations, and executive orders enacted before the effective date and recommend nullification of any found to be unconstitutional.

• Prohibits enforcement of any federal law, regulation, or executive order recommended for nullification by the committee until the legislature approves the nullification.

• Requires the Secretary of State to forward copies of the act to state legislatures, the President, congressional leaders, and Alabama's congressional delegation.
