HB 69 Summary

• Reopens the State Police Tier II Plan to any employee of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission who performs law enforcement duties.

• Modifies Tier II benefits for state policemen to allow 25-year retirement without reduction in benefits and includes one year of hazardous duty time for every five years of service as a state policeman.

• Clarifies that employees of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission are classified as state policemen for retirement purposes under the Employees' Retirement System.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
