HB79 Summary

• Amends Section 45-35-83.01 of the Alabama Code to revise the effective date for the Judge of Probate of Houston County's compensation, changing from June 1, 2015 to "the effective date of the act amending this section."

• Sets the Judge of Probate annual salary at $105,000, paid in equal periodic installments from the county's general fund.

• Entitles the probate judge to cost of living increases and salary increases equal to those afforded district judges with the same cumulative years of service.

• Requires the probate judge to waive any compensation provided under Section 17-3-60 relating to reports from the state voter registration list as a condition of receiving the salary.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the first month following passage and Governor approval.
