HJR34 Summary

• Recreates the Statewide Trauma System Funding Committee originally established in Act 2019-255 to investigate revenue measures needed to support the Alabama Statewide Trauma System.

• Committee membership includes 13 positions: chairs of House and Senate fiscal committees, one Governor's representative, two EMS officials, one economic development official, two trauma hospital representatives, three medical professionals (two trauma surgeons and one emergency physician), and two EMS transport providers (one private and one public).

• Requires appointing authorities to coordinate appointments ensuring membership reflects the state's racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity.

• Committee shall study all revenue measures to support the continuance and expansion of the Alabama Statewide Trauma System and must report findings and recommendations to the Legislature by the final legislative day of the 2023 Regular Session.

• Committee automatically dissolves after submitting its final report and members receive regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses in accordance with Alabama Constitutional Amendment 871.
