Amendment 951 (ratified November 3, 2020) required the Director of the Legislative Services Agency to propose a recompiled Constitution of Alabama of 2022 during the 2022 Regular Session with limited scope: arranging provisions into proper articles, removing racist language, deleting duplicative and repealed provisions, consolidating economic development provisions, and arranging local amendments by county.

The Joint Interim Legislative Committee on the Recompilation of the Constitution held public meetings during 2021, received public input, and unanimously voted on November 3, 2021 to adopt the director's draft.

The proposed Constitution of Alabama of 2022 is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference, to be submitted to qualified electors for ratification at the 2022 general election.

Upon ratification by a majority of qualified electors voting on the question, the Constitution of Alabama of 2022 shall become the supreme law of the state, succeeding the Constitution of Alabama of 1901.

The Secretary of State shall place the ratification question on the 2022 general election ballot with a specified description explaining the recompilation scope and presenting "Yes ( ) No ( )" voting options.
