Recognizes Birmingham Police Officer Michael Burnett as a nominee for the 2022 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On October 7, 2021, Officer Burnett and Officer Anthony Evans rescued an individual trapped in a vehicle fully submerged in 6 to 7 feet of flood water by swimming into rising waters without hesitation.

After rescue, the individual was found unresponsive and without a pulse; Birmingham Fire and Rescue Personnel administered CPR that successfully restored the individual's pulse.

The House of Representatives honors Officer Burnett's quick, selfless actions and exemplary dedication to protecting citizens in times of crisis.
