Commends Marcus Hearns, a high school senior and student in the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Training Program, for saving his grandfather's life.

On February 2, 2022, at 5:30 a.m., Marcus's grandfather Howard Major (age 63) called 911 complaining of chest pains and became unresponsive and stopped breathing while on the phone.

Marcus immediately performed CPR on his grandfather after receiving training through the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Training Program taught at Centre Fire Department by Shawn Rogers and Jeremy Lee.

Marcus continued high-quality CPR until Chief Lee arrived and took over; emergency responders were able to restore a pulse and the grandfather was breathing on his own.

The House of Representatives honors and commends Marcus Hearns for his heroic actions and extends best wishes for his continued success in the future.
