Recognizes Limestone County Sheriff Deputy Lucas Ferrell as a nominee for the 2022 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement.

Deputy Ferrell performed a heroic rescue on July 15, 2021, near the Easter Ferry Bridge in Limestone County when he saved a drowning swimmer.

Despite swift river currents and personal danger, Deputy Ferrell entered the water to assist his colleague Deputy Jake Abernathy and gained control of the struggling victim who was losing consciousness.

With assistance from other first responders, the swimmer was rescued and transported to a hospital where he made a full recovery.

The House of Representatives honors Deputy Ferrell for his selfless actions and exemplary dedication to public safety.
